my mother is a singer, and not to give singers a bad name, but naturally becuase she is a singer she has married many times. four times, to be exact. divorced once, widowed twice, and the newest still has yet to leave. then again, hes only been around for abotu two monthes. i do not think any lesser of my mother for marrying a large amount of men. nor do i doubt her love for the current husband simply becuase she has loved before. my mother, she loves many. and right now, she loves her new husband and me and that is all she needs. however the mass amoutns of money form life insurance and divorce fees are also a plus. not to mention my new fathers strong business which pulls in money quite well. i watched in a light sense of joy and pride as my mother closed her eyes while singing focusing on her resonating voice. it was an old russian song that was sung at each wedding oru family had. i cant imagine singing it myself when i get married later in my years, but right now, the clapping to go along with the rythm of the song. i swung my hips and hummed along to my mother, everyone around me was family now, and i am comfortable with that now. i smiled and looked around at the large amount of woman in long straight dresses and delicate head bands or hats, men with respectable suits on, and children laughing in flowing fabrics that the mothers must have spent hours cleaning to sprakle so brightly. i looked back up at my mother, she extended a hand to my new father and he grabbed ehr hadn and stood with her beamign with pride. the song ended and my new father kissed my mother in a way which showed he had to retrain himself from doing it all the whiel she was singing. the crowd laughed, but i did not, for a something had popped into my mind just as i had saw my mothers face after the kiss. it had been glowing with a loving look. something, i clapped a little bit at the end of the wedding ceremony, something was going to happen ifi didnt do something. i pulled my face into a bright smile and came up to my mother and said, "congratualation mother, ", i turned to raoul, my new father, "father. i am so glad we can all eb a family finally."
"oh lapushka,", my mother brushed my cheek and kissed me on the forehead, "i am so happy we are all together.", she looked up at rauol and smiled lovingly.
once again, my chest tightened. that night i must do what i had to do to keep this place happy.
i sat with my knees on the cold wood floor and my legs tucked underneath me. takign a deep breath i looked at the pentagram i had drawn on the floor with chalk. before i had consulted the book and checked each piece at least three times. there was no way i coudl mess this up, not with such an important fate depending on it. let me explain, my mother is said to be cursed, it is said from my family that when she was a young girl she couldnt speak, let alone sing. once day she disapeared into the dark woods by the band of wagons our family lived in ,following what my uncle recalled as a man with silver long hair and clothing as dark as night. later, when my mother didnt reutrn that night the whole band of old gypsies went and franticaly searched for her. they foudn her, down a hole under a tree, the trees roots cradled her and she was sleeping soundly. upon seeing them she reached up ehr arms as if reaching for the moon and said, "i have been given the kiss of death.". after that, the people al feared that she would die very soon. she was treated delicately, and desptie their fears she lived for a very long time. growing more buetiful with each year. the boy she was promised to noticed as well, they fell for each other, and iw as born. but the day i was born was also the unfortunate day of 1905 jan 22nd. also known as "bloody sunday", my father was killed on that same day. escaping from the masses trying desperately to get home to my mother after visiting a shop with my dedushka , dedushka made it home, but suffered from septicemia after we sewed up his wounds. and it was from then on believed that my mother was cursed with the kiss of death itself, any person she loved woudl surely die. dedushka we are fairly certain was actually babushkas doing, then again, my uncle told of this tale. and he cant be really reliable. and i didnt believe it, until i saw my second father die, and then, when my mother married another, i feared the worst, until i realised she did not love him. so they were divorced. so now, i must do something to make sure my mother is happy. im sue she too is worried. i brushed my long crow feather black hair out of my eyes and placed my hand on the floor as i inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly to calm myself. babushka taught me of the old ways, and had handed me this book when i had consulted her this eveing after supper. her toothy grin had comforted me for the moment, but now, after reading how this was to go about, i wasnt so sure abotu what i was doing. taking the knife by my side, which clinked slightly on the floor i cut my wrist cross wise, makign sure to cut shallowly. blood pooled and spilled onto the floor, i swallowed hard and clenched my fist making the blood pour more, i raised my body slightly and held my wrist over the pentagram and hoped. and kept on hoping as the deep red blood dripped and pooled and sunk into the boards of the floor. the darkness of the room suddenly seemed to eb all aroudn and much more darker despite the full moon shining into the room and candles lighting as well . the large mansion full of guests felt so quiet and peaceful. i felt comfort in that. i settled down and decided that was enough blood. i took the guaze i had prepared earlier and after spreading an oitnment from babushka on the cut which stung slightly wrapped it heavily and tightly. standing up i walked over to the candle on the table and warmed my hands around it, i grabbed teh glass of strogn flower scented tea and sipped slightly. i was glad now that i had prepared the tea with lots of sugar, this made the anemia wane slightly. with a sigh i closed my eyes and sipped more with my back to the pentagram. i hummed the song my mother had sung and swung my body slightly moving with the sound of the instruments in my head. "my, i remeber that song.", a voice said.
I like it!!
ReplyDeleteWatch your semicolons. They're hard to understand, and my WR122 teacher told me "when in doubt, don't use it." However, I love them, and they make me feel smart.
Alice was a bit of a introvert, her father was much like her she liked to think though she didn’t see him very often; even when he was alive.
To the best of my understanding of semicolons, it would be correct to say
Alice was a bit of a introvert; her father was much like her she liked to think though she didn’t see him very often, even when he was alive.
Because "Alice was a bit of an introvert" is a complete sentence that is being linked to the other sentence "Her father was much like her..."
I can't wait to read more; tell Connie she should start a blog =]
